2022 Malbec

The 2022 Hat Ranch Malbec is a beautifully balanced expression of Idaho Malbec, combining fruit-driven richness with structure, polish, and length. This vintage is a blend of 55% Rockspur Vineyards and 45% Williamson Vineyards, aged for 30 months in 50% new oak, using a combination of French and American barrels. The extended élevage brings depth and complexity while allowing the wine’s vibrant fruit character to remain at the forefront. In the glass, the wine shows a vibrant, deep color with inviting aromas and flavors of dark, juicy fruit and baking spice. The palate is rich yet remarkably smooth, with well-integrated tannins providing structure without overpowering the fruit. The 2022 Malbec strikes a wonderful balance between fruit, tannin, structure, and length. It is polished and expressive, with enough depth to reward another few years in the cellar, yet it is drinking beautifully right now.
